Digitization and Preservation of Cultural Heritage

We provide 3D scanning services for immovable cultural heritage sites. Using 3D scanning, we create documentation such as 2D plans that comply with monument preservation requirements.

3D Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry

With its high accuracy, speed, and ability to capture large amounts of data, 3D laser scanning (3DLS) is an essential tool for the research, documentation, preservation, and visualization of immovable cultural and natural heritage.

3DLS technology allows for comprehensive measurement of all visible surfaces, including complex and irregular formations. Its remote measurement capabilities enable the digitization of difficult-to-reach or inaccessible areas and intricate details.

In addition to 3D laser scanning, we utilize photogrammetry to document culturally and naturally significant objects. When combined with 3DLS, this method produces highly detailed and photorealistic 3D models.

The Leica Truview application allows remote entry into a virtual model of the vessel, offering numerous benefits and functionalities for maintenance, training, and safety:

  1. 3D Point Cloud: The direct result of measurements, representing a digitized product. It captures both the geometry and color of the scanned object.
  2. 2D Plans: Based on the 3D point cloud, we produce highly detailed plans with millimeter precision. Since the object is spatially measured in 3D as a whole, we can create 2D drawings from any cross-section or direction. Plans are typically delivered in .dwg format, customized to meet client standards or cultural conservation requirements.
  3. 3D Models: Buildings under monument protection often have complex structures, making modeling operations intricate and time-consuming. We frequently create 3D models for restoration or reconstruction purposes. These models, generated through 3D scanning, are also suitable for direct CNC processing. We deliver models in CAD, BIM, and “mesh” formats.
  4. Visualization: Using 3D scan data and 360° photos, we create interactive visualizations that can be viewed on various media devices, including VR headsets.
